Reach out: He lives to Care for You

“He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25

Consistency is powerful. And for some us more free-spirited folk, it is also challenging! Keeping constant communication with God places us in the realm of the secret place; the shadow of the Almighty!  The more time we invest in our relationship with God, the more intimate we become and the more we take notice of him in our lives.

When Apostle Paul says that we should pray without ceasing (1 Ths 5:17), I think this is more attainable than we at first think. Perhaps we’ve been conditioned into thinking that the only prayers that count are those in which we’re on our knees physically or in our secret prayer closet or making formal petitions. But prayer is really communication. There are times when a relationship demands intimate and long conversation. At other times we can say a lot by exchanging looks with someone who knows us well. You likely communicate with God more often than you realize.

The secret place is where our protection is. It is secret because it is a place where you and God communicate (Psa 91:1).  There is no one else involved in that. Since we know God’s word is faithful, we know that drawing near to him also places us under his wing. As we seek his face and apply his word, his word lines us up with his will. It’s amazing how it works. Application not only empowers us, but gives us a testimony. Our personal and intimate times with him creates strength.

We need that power and those testimonies to continue to build our trust and our strength in God.  Then our faith will be built on a relationship rather than a theory or someone else. We will have experienced first-hand the faithfulness of God.

Jesus has been victorious of this example of life.  And he is interceding for you right now at the right hand of God.  He has not left us without help.  We can count on his grace, his presence, and his strength when we are weak. No matter what is going on, don’t let anything try to convince you that it is more important or time-sensitive than making a quick check-in with God.  There is nothing greater, more fruitful, or more important!! It doesn’t take a long discourse. All it takes is reaching out.
